While we were in Kyoto we found this delicious Nepalese restaurant with plenty of gluten free options. Although this might not be the type of cuisine you expect to eat when you think of Kyoto, I definitely suggest making a stop here as the food is very tasty and the staff were knowledgeable and helpful when it came to avoiding gluten and dairy.
Before we sat down, we viewed a menu and asked a staff member if they were able to accommodate a gluten and dairy free diet. She assured us there were plenty of options for us and we were ushered in. If I had of known we would be writing this blog, I would have taken some pictures. Sadly, I did not!
For a starter I had the vegetable phuraula (Nepalese style tempura). For the main course I had a curry (not all of them were dairy free, but the waitress was great and showed me the types I could have). The food here was delicious (and no upset stomach the next day!).
I definitely recommend hitting up Yak & Yeti after a busy day at the Nishiki market. The location is perfect as it is right outside the market so you don’t even need to use any public transit to get there. Make sure you stop by for a yummy warm meal!
